The Kooks - Indie Rock genre - Website

The primary feature on The Kooks website homepage is the promotion of their latest album, which includes the whereabouts of other online places to purchase the album including iTunes and Amazon. Other 'ingredients' featured on the homepage include the dates of their upcoming shows and performances and also news about their latest album 'Hello, Whats Your Name?' which includes direct links to social media websites to further promote and endorse the album. These features are most likely prominent on the page as the primary aim of the website is to promote the album to ultimately create profit. Hence other features on the website have less emphasis such as the photo gallery and videos, as these forms of promotion are not so direct methods to create profit.

The website itself is very user-friendly as it is easy to navigate sue to the linear format, moreover this echoes the minimalist style of the indie-rock genre. The homepage hosts a variety of ingredients in the order of a promotion to the album, information about performance dates, news reguarding their latest album, direct links to purchase the various different versions of the album and past products, video links, photo gallery, an option to sign up to the website and finally contact information. There is also a menu a the top of the page which includes social media links including Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud. This emphasis on social media is particularly important for this band and genre due to the young fan base who interact with such technologies on a day to day basis.
